Sharpe Ready to Get Back to Action after
Break in ScheduleConcord,
NC 5/10/07- After a two-week hiatus from behind the wheel, the South
Carolina native will return to the Concord Motorsport Park looking for his
first top-5 finish of the season. Sharpe has not had the start that he
anticipated for his return to the Concord Motorsport Park to defend his 2005
track championship and hopes to improve.
After four starts Sharpe sits in sixth position in
the points standings and has managed only to muster a season-best seventh
place finish which occurred opening night. When asked how this would affect
his run at the title, Sharpe remains positive. “Well it has been a bit of a
disappointment to finish where we have but I am hoping to turn things around
this weekend. We have had a couple weeks off to go over the car and work out
some of the bugs. The biggest thing I have got to keep in my mind is that this
is a brand new FNO racecar from the ground up and I have to be patient and let
the car come to me. I am pretty confident we can start pulling out some
top-fives pretty soon,” stated Sharpe.
As Sharpe looks to prepare to get back on track he
knows that consistency is essential to his success. The
Travis Sharpe Motorsports team will run seven out of the next eight weeks in a
row. “I think this will be a stretch that will separate the contenders and
real racers from the rest. Having a few weeks in between races has helped us
out for sure but we realize we have to be ready to go wide open now.
Consistency is going to be key over this stretch and I think if we can get at
least four top-5 finishes and be running at the end of every race I feel like
that will put us in a good position, “ said Sharpe.
